Questions people ask

Is dang shen the same as ginseng?

No. Dang shen (codonopsis) is a different, much cheaper root with a sweet, mild taste. It is used generously in everyday soups where real ginseng would be used sparingly.

Whole root or slices?

Slices are for brewing and are ready to use. Whole roots are for double-boiling and keep their aroma longer.
