About dried lotus

Lotus root dried into slices, or lotus leaf and lotus core dried for brewing. The root is starchy and mild; the leaf and core are bitter and used sparingly. This pack is 450 g net. At the quantities below that is about 23 pots of soup.

Also known as lian ou, lotus root slices, he ye, 莲藕, lotus leaf tea.

What people use it for

Dried lotus root goes into pork rib soup and into the lotus root, water chestnut and cane soup. Lotus leaf is brewed as a tea or used to wrap rice.

How to prepare it

Root: soak 30 minutes, simmer 1 hour. Leaf or core: a teaspoon per mug, 5 minutes, and expect it to be bitter.
