About dendrobium

Dried dendrobium stem, sold as tight coils or short pieces. Mild and slightly sweet, and it takes a long boil to give anything up. This pack is 15 g net. At the quantities below that is about 2 pots of soup.

Also known as shi hu, dendrobium officinale, 石斛, tie pi shi hu, noble dendrobium.

What people use it for

Double-boiled with chicken or with American ginseng, or simmered long into a clear soup.

How to prepare it

Five to eight pieces in a family pot, simmered at least an hour, or double-boiled two hours. It rewards long cooking more than most.

Airtight and dry.
