About poria

A pale, chalky fungus sold as cubes, slices or powder. Effectively tasteless, which is why it appears in so many mixed soups. This pack is 100 g net. At the quantities below that is about 7 pots of soup.

Also known as fu ling, fuk ling, poria cocos, 茯苓, tuckahoe.

What people use it for

One of the four in si shen soup, alongside huai shan, lotus seed and gorgon fruit. Powdered, it is stirred into drinks and porridge.

How to prepare it

Rinse the cubes and simmer for an hour with the rest of the soup. The powder dissolves straight into hot liquid.

Keeping it

Airtight and dry.
