About dried osmanthus

Tiny golden-yellow flowers with an apricot-and-honey scent that is far stronger than the size of the flower suggests. Sold as listed above.

Also known as gui hua, sweet olive, osmanthus tea, 桂花, kwai fah.

What people use it for

A pinch into tea, into oolong, or into the water when making osmanthus jelly, sago and pear dessert. It is the scent in gui hua gao and osmanthus wine.

How to prepare it

Half a teaspoon per mug is plenty, 2 to 3 minutes. Use it as a scenting flower rather than the main ingredient.

Keeping it

Airtight. The scent is volatile and goes first.

Questions people ask

Can I use it in cooking?
