Hardened amber resin from the peach tree, sold dry as crystals. It has no taste of its own and turns soft and jelly-like after a long soak. This pack is 500 g net, grade A. At the quantities below that is about 42 servings. That works out at S$3.56 per 100 g.

Soaked overnight, picked clean of bark, then simmered in a sweet soup with snow fungus, red dates and rock sugar. It is the crunchy-then-slippery texture in that dessert.
Soak 10 to 15 g in plenty of cold water for 10 to 12 hours - it swells to many times its size. Pick out the dark bits, then simmer 20 to 30 minutes.
Airtight and dry. Undissolved it keeps for a long time; once soaked, use it that day.
Ten to twelve hours in cold water, or overnight. It will not soften properly in a short soak.
Bits of bark from the tree. They are picked out after soaking, when the resin is soft and they lift away easily.

Delivery was quite fast. Unpacked and stored in airtight container and refrigerated. I used about 3 Tbsp when I cooked the first time. It was a bit too much for the 4 of us. Need to soak them overnight. I cooked with dried longans, red dates, white fungus, wolf berries, rock sugar and added pandan leaves. Have to use a pair of tongs to remove some of the debris. Heard that it’s good for the skin.
