A round brown dried gourd, hollow and light, that is intensely sweet without sugar. Sold whole, and separately as the dried flower and as a powder. Sold as listed above.
Also known as monk fruit, lo han kor, buddha fruit, 罗汉果, siraitia grosvenorii.
Images are for reference only. The actual product may vary slightly from the images shown.
The sweetener in a pot of cooling tea: crack one, drop the shell and flesh in, and it sweetens two litres by itself. Also brewed with dried lemon, chrysanthemum or hawthorn.
Crack one fruit, put the whole thing including the shell into 1.5 to 2 litres of water and simmer 20 to 30 minutes. Half a fruit is enough for one big mug.
Somewhere dry. Keep them whole until the day you use them.
One and a half to two litres. It is far sweeter than it looks and a whole fruit in a mug is overpowering.
Yes. Crack it and put shell and flesh in together, then strain.
